There will be a poetry test on Friday. There will be a closed form poem that you need to identify as well as a second poem with questions on speaker, imagery, etc.
Study your poetry packet, closed forms, and meter to prepare.
Also, have the revision of your poem by Friday and you new copy inspired by the process of Wordsworth in "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud."

New year, new start!!!!!
I'm excited to start this year off...with poetry!!!
We discussed Anne Sexton's poem "Her Kind" in class today, and went over the following terms:
Persona: Latin for "mask"; the fictional person created to be the speaker of a poem.
Speaker: fictional character who gives the poem the point of view/perspective.
It is super, super, super important to understand that the speaker is not the poet!!!
For homework, make sure you write your own 3 stanza poem, with the repetition of "Her Kind," with your own created persona.
Have fun!!
